The Secretary spoke extensively on his own experiences in life as a young officer in the Nigerian Army who wanted to study law but ended up becoming so many things instead including a military pilot.

He said the army provided many opportunities for career advancement which he effectively utilised by studying in several countries across the globe. He further challenged them to learn vocational skills and trades in the absence of white collar jobs.

In a similar vain, the Acting Director of Administration and Finance of the Secretariat, Mrs. Justina Maimagani urged the corps members to keep abreast of the latest trends especially in the areas of Information and Communication Technology as she said this will greatly enhance their marketability in their quest of securing good jobs.

She said that although the Secretary had been in the Secretariat for only a short period of time, his approach to work has really inspired them enough to want to be like him in future. The Corpers then presented a portrait of Senator Maina to him.
